Sembcorp Marine Unveils Latest Developments in its Transformation Journey at Offshore Technology Conference 2015

Singapore, May 5, 2015: Sembcorp Marine unveiled the latest developments of its ongoing ‘Transformation for Growth’ journey to customers and industry partners at the start of the 2015 Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), the world’s foremost offshore energy event held in Houston, USA from May 4 to 7, 2015.

In line with its sustainable growth strategy, Sembcorp Marine started its ‘Transformation for Growth’ journey in 2013. The goal remains to prime the business for long-term competitiveness as a dynamic global leader in the marine and offshore industry.

Leveraging OTC as an outreach platform, Sembcorp Marine provided updates on its transformation through a keynote video in the Singapore Pavilion. Key representatives of the company, including President & CEO Mr Wong Weng Sun, were at the exhibition to interact and engage with visitors.

A key highlight of the outreach was the ‘One Sembcorp Marine’ strategy to offer clients integrated solutions in four key capabilities, (i) Rigs & Floaters, (ii) Repairs & Upgrades, (iii) Offshore Platforms and (iv) Specialised Shipbuilding, starting from 1 July 2015.

Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican, Chairman of Sembcorp Marine, said: “We embarked on our transformation journey two years ago. Going forward, we shall be ‘One Sembcorp Marine’. This integration will bring together highly skilled employees to better serve our customers. Coupled with our new yard facilities in both Singapore and overseas, we are more innovative and offer higher productivity and cost-effective solutions to our customers.”

Becoming ‘One Sembcorp Marine’ enables the company to harness the combined scale and expertise of its global operations. By synergising the strengths of its four capabilities and harnessing state-of-the-art facilities at the new Tuas Yard in Singapore, Sembcorp Marine will be more flexible, innovative and responsive. This enables the company to rise to new challenges and undertake even larger and more complex projects.

The integration will also further bolster Sembcorp Marine’s competitive edge in fulfilling its value propositions to customers on:
• Delivering applied engineering expertise
• Providing integrated depth and breadth of capabilities
• Achieving adaptability and responsiveness, and
• Being trusted partners to clients

With this transformation, Sembcorp Marine is well-positioned to seize new opportunities and create enhanced value for clients and stakeholders. Customers worldwide will benefit from this integrated approach, which combines the shared expertise and accumulated experience of high-calibre teams across its global operations. The move will also enable Sembcorp Marine to consistently deliver customised solutions and meet the evolving and increasingly complex demands of the marine and offshore industry.
